2024 - 25 NFL Divisional Round Predictions

Only Seven Games Left: Divisional Round Predictions and Analysis.

With only seven games remaining in the season, it's time to dissect and predict the matchups for the divisional round, arguably the best weekend in football. Here are my thoughts and predictions for each game.

Texans vs. Chiefs

How about those Houston Texans? Last week, they shocked the world by defeating the LA Chargers, overcoming early turnovers thanks to a phenomenal defensive performance. They forced four turnovers and showcased why their defense has been consistent all season.

Now, the Texans face the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. Rested after a bye and playing at Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs have every advantage. With players like Jaylen Watson returning and their playoff-tested squad, the Chiefs look ready to take on this Cinderella team.

However, don’t completely count out the Texans. Their defense could keep this close if they make Patrick Mahomes uncomfortable. But in the end, I have to go with the Chiefs, who just seem too strong and experienced. Prediction: Chiefs advance to the AFC Championship.

Commanders vs. Lions: House Money vs. the Top Seed

The Washington Commanders delivered an electric win over the Buccaneers in the wild-card round, earning their first playoff victory in what feels like forever. The Lions, on the other hand, earned the NFC’s top seed and come into this game well-rested and healthier than they’ve been in weeks.

This game could turn into a shootout, but I see the Lions’ dynamic running duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs proving too much for Washington to handle. Playing at Ford Field with a rejuvenated roster, I predict Detroit moves on. Lions fans, it’s time to believe. Prediction: Lions punch their ticket to the NFC Championship.

Rams vs. Eagles: Clash of Defensive Titans

The Rams demolished the Vikings last week with an incredible nine-sack performance. Now, they face a much tougher test against the Philadelphia Eagles, who boast one of the NFL's best offensive lines and a powerful running game led by Saquon Barkley.

The Eagles’ defense has also been outstanding, forcing turnovers and shutting down opponents’ key weapons. While the Rams’ defensive line will need to pressure Jalen Hurts to have a chance, I don’t see them replicating last week’s dominance. In a tight matchup, I predict the Eagles will emerge victorious, setting up a showdown with Detroit next week. Prediction: Eagles edge out the Rams.

Ravens vs. Bills: Game of the Year Candidate?

This is the game everyone has been waiting for. The Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills face off in what could be the most thrilling contest of the postseason. Both teams have evolved since their Week 4 matchup, where Baltimore dominated Buffalo thanks to Derrick Henry’s monster performance.

This time around, the Bills look healthier and more prepared, with key defensive players returning to stop the Ravens’ ground game. However, if Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson can get rolling, it’s going to be a long day for Buffalo.

It’s tough to call this one—it truly feels like a coin flip. My heart says the Ravens, but my gut is leaning toward the Bills pulling it off in front of a raucous home crowd. Prediction: Bills squeak past the Ravens.

What’s Next?

With only seven games left in the season, every matchup is a must-watch. My predictions have the Chiefs and Bills in the AFC Championship, while the NFC will feature the Lions and Eagles. These potential matchups promise fireworks as we inch closer to the Super Bowl.
